  • Dr. Joseph Hegleh, MD, FACS

    Medical Director-Florida

    Dr. Joseph Hegleh, MD, FACS is a board certified eye surgeon with extensive experience in the field of Cataract, Cornea & External Diseases and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Hegleh serves on the Organ & Tissue Procurement and Transplantation Advisory Board for the State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. He received his medical degree from the University of Damascus and completed his residency at Friedenwald Eye Institute at Maryland General Hospital, University of Maryland. Dr. Hegleh completed his fellowship training in Cornea & External Diseases and Refractive Surgery at the University of South Florida Eye Institute in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Hegleh established the Florida Eye and Laser Institute in tri-county of Sarasota, Charlotte and Desoto, Florida. He is current Chief of Department of Ophthalmology at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He is Assistant Clinical Professor at USF Eye Institute, University of South Florida. Dr. Hegleh is a true humanitarian, he still finds time to join charitable missions, such as his position at International Sight Restoration as the Medical Director since 2010 and working with ORBIS, the flying eye hospital.
  • Dr. Brian Foster, MD

    Co-Medical Director-Florida

    Dr. Foster received his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine where he then completed his medical internship. Dr. Foster went on to an Ophthalmology Residency at Wake Forest University Eye Center and received his fellowship training in cornea and external disease at the prestigious Eye Consultants of Atlanta. During fellowship he performed several hundred corneal transplants, in addition to cataract surgery and LASIK. Dr. Foster is experienced in bladeless laser cataract surgery, clear lens replacement, and modern corneal transplantation including DSAEK for Fuch’s Endothelial Dystrophy, DALK for keratoconus, and LASIK. He also has an interest in dry eye treatment and recently published a chapter on Dry Eye in Ocular Surface Disease, a well-respected textbook. Dr. Foster has a heart for the blind in the developing world and has traveled to Central America and the Caribbean to cure blindness through cataract surgery and corneal transplantation. He regularly lectures to the community at The Eye Associates' Ellenton location and continues to speak at numerous community organizations and care facilities in Sarasota, Bradenton, Ellenton, and Sun City. He has successfully fulfilled the requirements for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) to be certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
  • Bryan E. Lusk, M.D.

    Medical Director-Louisiana

    Dr. Bryan Lusk joined our team as Medical Director in June, 2010. Dr. Lusk moved back to Shreveport to join Lusk Eye Specialists (LES) after graduating Wake Forest University, BS Biology, 2001 (magna cum laude, phi beta kappa) and earned his medical doctorate from the WFU School of Medicine in 2005. He completed an Internal Medicine Internship followed by a Residency in Ophthalmology at Georgetown University (2006-2009) and a fellowship in Cornea and Cataract at Eye Consultants of Atlanta (2010). Dr. Bryan Lusk continues to offer excellence in cataract care in addition to offering both traditional and novel techniques in corneal transplantation including minimally invasive partial thickness or lamellar transplants. Dr. Bryan Lusk has been privileged to join LES on the cataract mission trip to Mexico. He and his wife, Stephanie Yu Lusk (director of the local Marlene Yu Museum and Rainforest Art Foundation), have a son, James Wyatt Lusk. Dr. and Mrs. Lusk enjoy a variety of outdoor sports notably whitewater kayaking and find time to travel the world to enjoy wild rivers as well as diverse cultures.
  • Russell H. Van Norman, III, M.D.

    Co-Medical Director-Louisiana

    Dr. Russell Van Norman is a graduate of Louisiana State University. He received his medical and ophthalmology training at LSU – Medical Center and continued his education by completing a two year fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at the University of Texas Southwestern. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is currently licensed to practice medicine in the states of Louisiana and Texas. Dr. Van Norman is a member of The Shreveport Medical Society, The American Medical Association, The American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Van Norman joined our team as Co-Medical Director of ISR Eye Banks Louisiana in January, 2014.
